Where pets are allowed
- On the South Rim, leashed pets are allowed on trails above the canyon rim.
- Mather Campground, Desert View Campground, Trailer Village, and developed areas on the South Rim.
- On the North Rim, leashed pets are allowed on the bridle trail/greenway connecting the North Kaibab Trail and on the portion of the Arizona Trail north to the park entrance station.
- At Tuweep, leashed pets are allowed on established roads and in the campground.
Where pets are not allowed
- Pets are not allowed below the canyon rim on inner-canyon trails.
- Park shuttle buses.
- Park lodging except designated pet-friendly rooms.
Leash rule
Pets must be restrained; reviewed source states a maximum leash length of 6 feet.
Safety notes
- NPS warns against leaving pets in hot vehicles and notes summer heat and elevation risks.
- Rules differ on neighboring national forest, state, and tribal lands.
