Where pets are allowed
- Developed areas.
- Fully paved roads, sidewalks, and bicycle paths unless specifically signed otherwise, including Bridalveil Fall trail, Lower Yosemite Fall trail, the paved trail through Cook's Meadow including boardwalks, and the paved road to Mirror Lake but not the unpaved trail around Mirror Lake.
- Campgrounds except walk-in campgrounds such as Camp 4 and group campsites.
- Wawona Meadow Loop is an exception to the general trail prohibition.
Where pets are not allowed
- Trails generally, including the trail to Vernal Fall, even if the pet is carried, except the stated Wawona Meadow Loop exception.
- Unplowed roads covered in snow.
- Wilderness and other undeveloped areas.
- Meadows, beaches, and waterways.
- Public buildings, shuttle buses, lodging areas, walk-in campgrounds, and group campgrounds/campsites.
Leash rule
Pets must be restrained; reviewed source states a maximum leash length of 6 feet.
Safety notes
- NPS warns that summer heat and elevation can affect pets and recommends water, snacks, and paw protection.
- Wildlife can threaten pets; NPS advises keeping pets attended, leashed, and vaccinated.
